In 2017, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that 3,166 people were killed because of distracted driving. There are many different ways that a person can become distracted while driving on Texas roads or others throughout the country. A person who is frequently yawning or having short-term memory issues should stop driving immediately.

It may be a good idea to take a quick nap or buy a cup of coffee or soda to provide a temporary boost of energy. If those don’t work, consider asking for a ride home or for a passenger to take control of the vehicle. It is generally not a good idea to eat or drink while driving. In addition to keeping everyone safe, keeping food or soda out of a vehicle can keep it cleaner.
